UFS Honours Bursary 2023 for young South Africans
UFS Honours Bursary: Honors students will receive financial assistance (half tuition cost) from the University of the Free State in 2023.
- For new honors students enrolled full-time in 2023, the UFS Honours Bursary is a one-time reward.
- The scholarship is given based on academic merit.
- No government scholarship or bursary may be received by the bursary holder (e.g. the NRF).
- The UFS Staff Study Benefit/Remission on Tuition Fees may not be used by the bursary recipient.
- The prize money cannot be used to settle any past-due fees.
- The minimum eligibility requirements do not ensure a successful application; bursaries are given out based on academic performance and financial need.
- Holders of UFS Honours Bursaries must go to the Center for Graduate Support sessions on building research capacity.
Eligibility Criteria
- both international and South African students.
- honors students enrolled full-time.
- Candidates must have completed their undergraduate studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 65%.
- Candidates must have completed their undergraduate studies within the minimal time frame required.
Late submissions must be submitted by February 28, 2023.

Bursary for Postgraduate Diplomas at UFS 2023
For the academic year 2023, Postgraduate Diploma students will get financial assistance (half tuition fee) from the University of the Free State.
- For first-time Postgraduate Diploma students enrolled full-time in 2023, the UFS Postgraduate Diploma Bursary is a one-time reward.
- The scholarship is given based on academic merit.
- No government scholarship or bursary may be awarded to the bursary holder.
- The UFS Staff Study Benefit/Remission on Tuition Fees may not be used by the bursary recipient.
- The prize money cannot be used to settle any past-due fees.
- The minimum eligibility requirements do not ensure a successful application; bursaries are given out based on academic performance and financial need.
Who is not eligible
- Students enrolled in the Postgraduate Diplomaโs second year;
- regardless of the program they are enrolled in, students earning undergraduate degrees;
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) candidates;
- students who have previously received financial aid from the Postgraduate School; and
- who are employed full-time while still students.
