In 2021/22, more than 3 thousand people from all over the world volunteered with VSO to deliver services to over 8 million people in the 28 countries where we work. That’s why we work with over 500 partner organisations, from local and national governments to businesses, NGOs, funders, charities and community groups. Currently, over 40% of our people are recruited from within the country where they work, and we continue to grow the share of community and national volunteers involved in our programmes. We also send increasing numbers of volunteers from one developing country to another. However, our vision has remained the same; to build a world without poverty.

Role overview

Working at the project site – For a predetermined amount of time, you will perform this role’s on-site support duties (full-time unless otherwise indicated) at the project site and/or the VSO office.

The ideal candidate will mentor and train teachers and students on a variety of entrepreneurship-related topics, support staff by increasing their ability to deliver entrepreneurship courses, equip tutors and students with real-world entrepreneurial skills, and support both existing and new entrepreneurship groups in order to expand their mentorship and capacity.

Skills, qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business management or social science, Entrepreneurship, Economics or related is required

• Background on training, education or facilitation skills will be the most advantageous factor for this position.

• Communication – communicates at various levels depending on the audience and content of message, communicates the rights message, excellent in communication consistency between partners in the project

• Ability to inspire young people is highly recommended. Good inspirational speaking skills will be added advantage

• Analyzing problems and coming up with unique ideas proactively to address them,

• The capacity to discern VETA’s and the CLARITY project’s interests. the capacity to analyze and swiftly understand the core elements of a need. able to anticipate challenges and come up with creative solutions.

• Flexibility – the capacity to be proactive in a changing work environment, business management, and entrepreneurship is desired, as is experience in people management and the capacity to operate in international corporations with a degree of cultural flexibility.

• Desirable requirements include: • Previous experience working for an NGO or in a disadvantaged nation.

Allowance

You will share your abilities with local communities full-time as a VSO volunteer. Your travel, immunizations, lodging, and medical insurance expenses, as well as a local living stipend that will be given in local currency, are fully covered by VSO. This allowance will not cover enough to send money home, but it will cover reasonable living expenses in the nation. Additionally, you will receive some financial assistance to help with your ongoing household bills.

This session will offer you an overview of the values of VSO and show you how they fit with your own. This will help you decide if you want to join our organization. Normally, the self-assessment module takes 10 minutes to complete.

Step 2

After completing the VSO Values self-assessment, you can opt out or proceed with the application process. You will need to upload your CV in Word or PDF format detailing your employment and educational history, and any volunteering experience. Please note that you will need to complete the full application form in one go as you cannot save it to fill at a later time.

Step 3

When you have submitted your application, you will receive an email inviting you to complete two assessments which focus on how you process information and what your work approach is.

Prior to the tests, you will be given instructions and practice questions to assist you become more familiar with them. As soon as the evaluation is over, you will also have access to a brief profile report. When you have finished these examinations, our resourcing team will review your application.
