We are seeking for enthusiastic, qualified and experienced Clinical Oncologist as described below:
Clinical Oncologist – (1 POSITION)
REPORTING TO THE HEAD OF INTERNAL MEDICINE DEPARTMENT
POSITION SUMMARY
The efficient provision of oncology services to patients will be the clinical oncologist’s responsibility. He or she will be required to participate actively in the hospital’s interdisciplinary health care team and give back to its ongoing education initiatives. (Jobs at Aga Khan Health Service)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To place an order for testing, such as imaging, blood, and biopsy, to confirm the diagnosis of cancer.
- Give patients thorough information
- Relating to cancer, the likelihood of it occurring, and potential cures or treatments. Create effective treatment strategies with quantifiable objectives that adhere to patient preferences and offer the best level of care.
- By controlling cancer-related pain as well as symptoms and side effects of treatment, patients’ quality of life can be maintained. As disease treatment advances, reevaluate, and as required, consider palliative care or alternative medicines.
- Maintain patient anonymity at all times by taking part in training sessions and communication for study procedures and clinical trials. (Jobs at Aga Khan Health Service)
- To take part in a variety of health education and awareness campaigns (including radio, television, social media, and print), which will raise project awareness and patient referrals.
- To take part in clinical camps and cancer screening events both in the community and at medical facilities.
- Work together with a multidisciplinary team to precisely assess the needs of the patient and create tailored treatment strategies. Implement treatment strategies and track patient progress as a vital member of the patient care team.
- Participate in regional and local multidisciplinary tumor board talks.
- Utilize and encourage the use of safety precautions, study protocols, and authorized standards of care, procedures, methods, and techniques. Take part in the creation, review, and assessment of standard operating procedures as well as study-specific protocols. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum MMED in clinical oncology or similar qualification.
- It will be advantageous to have training in radiation oncology or hemato-oncology from a reputable institution.
- 3 years at the very least of Relevant Clinical Experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other medical professionals.
- Motivation to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in research and/or clinical protocols.
- Ability to interpret clinical, genomic and efficacy data.
Duty Station: Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam (AKHD); the incumbent should be willing to travel in any part of Tanzania
