The Groen Sebenza Internship: Phase II Programme
A “bridging into work” program, the Groen Sebenza Phase II Program is supported for the following three years. The goal of GS Phase II is to hire 1050 unemployed graduates (with degrees ranging from a diploma to a PhD) and place them in government and non-governmental organizations across the country where they will be incubated (trained and mentored) to further their competence and confidence in the management of environment and biodiversity.
The Groen Sebenza Phase II Initiative is a financed transition into work program that will receive R300 million in funding over the following three years. In order to further enhance their competence and confidence in the management of the environment and biodiversity, GS Phase II aims to hire 1050 jobless graduates (ranging from Diploma to PhD level) and put them across the country in various organizations (both government and non-governmental).
The programme aims to give unemployed and *underemployed youth the opportunity to gain meaningful workplace experience in the biodiversity / environmental sector through a structured programme based on the “incubator model” which involves intensive mentoring, together with skills development and training opportunities for a period of two (2) years.
