Global Resource Alliance – Tanzania

An worldwide non-profit organization with its main office in Musoma, Tanzania, is called the Global Resource Alliance – Tanzania (GRA-Tz). Tanzanian Forestry Program

Since 2011, GRA-Tz has distributed over 2 million trees to public schools and neighborhood communities in the Mara Region in collaboration with the Belgian NGO WeForest. The Butiama Hillside Forest Restoration Project, re-greening the surrounding terrain beginning in 2023, is a four + four -year program (two stages) that GRA-Tz and WeForest are working to put into action. The group is advancing Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) best practices, starting a movement, and encouraging the neighborhood communities and authorities to take appropriate action.

The Mwikoro, Kigori, Busegwe, and Singu villages in the Butiama District are the focus of the forest restoration project, which also aims to increase the amount of trees in the surrounding area. For the first four years, 1,921 ha of hillsides will be subject to intervention, of which 1,475 ha will be forest.

M&E Duties

The role of the M&E Coordinator will be to:

· Provide the GRA-TZ director, GRA-USA, and WeForest with regular, thorough progress reports.

• Establish the M&E budget.

• Produce superior deliverables on schedule to guarantee that they meet deadlines in accordance with the scope, timetable, and budget.

• Assist in creating grant applications as necessary.

• Assist project manager with other duties as required

Qualifications and other requirements:

Education

• A master’s degree in natural resources management, forestry, ecology, ecology, bioengineering, quantitative/qualitative research methods, statistics, remote sensing, or a related discipline, or comparable experience

Experience

• A minimum of three years of experience doing M&E with Tanzanian smallholder farmers in a related industry

• Working knowledge of creating milestones, work plans, logical frameworks (logframes), and targets.

• Knowledge of collecting biophysical data (such as assessing the structure and vegetation of forests) and socioeconomic data (e.g. household surveys)

• Knowledge of digital data collection instruments (e.g. KoboCollect, GIS Cloud)

• Computer literate and adept with Windows Office usage (especially Excel & Word) knowledge in working with spatial data and GIS software (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS)

• Proven abilities in planning, instructing, reporting, and communicating

• It’s a plus if you have knowledge of (statistical) data analysis techniques and programs, such as SPSS and R.

Language requirements
