Church World Service (CWS) is a humanitarian organization that works to promote “just and peaceful societies, addressing issues of poverty, hunger, and oppression.” In Tanzania, CWS works in partnership with local communities and organizations to implement programs in areas such as sustainable agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). CWS Tanzania also advocates for policies and systems that promote social and economic justice.

One of the main focus areas for CWS Tanzania is sustainable agriculture and food security. The organization works with smallholder farmers to improve their crop yields, provide access to markets, and promote sustainable land management practices. Additionally, CWS Tanzania implements programs to improve access to safe water and sanitation, and to raise awareness about the importance of good hygiene practices.

Another important focus area for CWS Tanzania is disaster risk reduction. The organization works with local communities to develop and implement plans to prepare for and respond to natural disasters such as floods and droughts. CWS Tanzania also provides training on first aid, search and rescue, and other emergency response skills.

CWS Tanzania also advocates for policies and systems that promote social and economic justice. The organization works to raise awareness about issues such as land rights, gender equality, and the rights of marginalized groups, and promotes the participation of these groups in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

It should be also mentioned that it operates under the umbrella of Church World Service, which is an international humanitarian organization that is present in more than 80 countries around the world. It does so in partnership with local, national and international organizations and a network of partners.
